Taking down a full three-man squad by yourself in Arc Raiders is one of the most stressful yet rewarding things you can pull off. Because the game has a relatively high time-to-kill (TTK), you can’t just rely on raw aim to melt three players simultaneously before they can react. If you try to stand your ground and trade shots, you will lose every single time.
To pull off a 1v3, you have to stop thinking of it as a single lopsided brawl and start treating it as three separate, isolated 1v1 duels. Your success comes down to breaking their line of sight, making them miss, using your utilities defensively, and letting the world's chaos do some of the heavy lifting.
Here is a practical breakdown of how to outsmart, outmaneuver, and wipe a trio when the odds are stacked against you.
1. Force Them into a Single-File Line
The biggest mistake solo players make is trying to fight where the enemy squad can see them all at once. The moment you spot a trio, your immediate goal is to fragment them.
Never fight in the open. If more than one enemy is on your screen, you are out of position. Start kiting them aggressively. Run through tight corridors, slip around corners, or duck into doorways. By forcing the enemy to chase you through narrow choke points, they naturally line up single-file. This turns a terrifying 1v3 into a series of manageable 1v1 gunfights where they actively block each other's shots.
When you do manage to drop one of them, finish them off immediately. It might feel greedy, but leaving a downed player alive is a massive liability. Downed players can ping your exact location in real-time to their teammates. Thirsting the kill cuts off their communication and puts immense psychological pressure on the remaining two.
2. Break Their Tracking with Movement Tech
In close-quarters combat, standard strafing won't save you. You need to use the game's movement mechanics to actively break the enemy’s aim tracking.
One of the best tools in your kit is the "Roll Forward" technique. When an opponent suddenly jumps you at close range, your instinct might be to roll backward to create space. Don't. Instead, dodge-roll directly toward or right past them. This forces them to radically whip their crosshairs around to find you again, completely disrupting their aim and giving you a split-second window to turn around and land easy headshots while they are still disoriented.
To keep them from getting easy opening shots on you, never just walk around a corner. Always slide-peek or jump around bends to throw off where they expect your head to be.
You can also use rolling to speed up your combat loop. Weapon swapping can feel slow and clunky, but you can animation-cancel it. Initiate your weapon swap and immediately input a dodge-roll. You will finish the roll with your secondary weapon already drawn and ready to fire instantly, saving precious fractions of a second.
3. Lay Tactical Traps and Reset the Fight
When you are on the run, use the environment to slow down the chase. Toss Jolt Mines, Gas Grenades, or Snap Blast Grenades directly behind you as you retreat. Even if they don't blow the enemy up, the threat of taking massive damage will make them hesitate, giving you a chance to break away. You can also deploy Burners or Blaze Grenades to completely wall off choke points, buying you a critical window to reload or heal up.
Speaking of healing, you need to maximize your health resets mid-fight. You can actually overlap your healing items to patch yourself up incredibly fast. If you slide down a hill, you can stack your bandages, Vita shots, and Surge Shield Rechargers simultaneously while maintaining your momentum. It’s the ultimate way to aggressively reset your health bar before the enemy realizes you've stopped running.
4. Pick the Right Tools for Chunk Damage
Because you only have brief windows to peek and shoot before the rest of the squad collapses on you, sustained-fire weapons aren't ideal for a 1v3. You want burst damage kings. High-tier weapons like the Bobcat, Anvil, Il Toro, or Venator are perfect for this. They deal massive chunk damage in a single shot or short burst, allowing you to deal heavy punishment, duck back into cover, and repeat.
Additionally, keep an eye out for weapons that support reload interrupting. If a weapon lets you cancel the reload animation halfway through and still fire whatever pocket ammo is left in the mag, it can completely save you in clutch moments when an enemy pushes before you finish a full reload.
5. Let the ARC AI Do Your Dirty Work
Don't forget that you aren't the only threat on the map. The hostile ARC robots roaming the zone can be weaponized against your pursuers.
If a squad is breathing down your neck, use a Rubber Duck gadget or a Lure Grenade and throw it directly into the middle of their group. This aggressively draws the attention of nearby heavy ARC units—like Rocketeers—right to their position. Suddenly, the trio is forced to split their attention between dodging rockets and chasing you. While they are panicked and fighting for their lives against the AI, you can easily turn around, re-engage, and pick them off one by one.
